Pork Chops Baked in A1 Sauce
This blog contains affiliate links to the fantastic cookware I used to create these meals.
With three grams of carbs per tablespoon, A1 Steak Sauce is much lower in carbohydrates than BBQ sauce! I knew I had to make some changes when I learned that my favorite brand of BBQ sauce delivered a whopping 18 grams of carbohydrates per tablespoon! Ounce per ounce, that's more sugar than a candy bar.
Step One: Fry pork chops in a covered skillet until they're golden brown on both sides. Step Two: Drop pork chops in a casserole dish and cover them with A1 sauce. Step Three: Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.. The A1 sauce ensures that the pork won't dry out in the oven. |
I began this project with a Hexclad frying pan
Does the iconic Hex Clad pan live up to the hype?
When I saw Chef Gordon Ramsey promoting this pan on YouTube, I just knew I had to buy it. This pan does a great job frying most anything you need to cook, but be sure to use a little oil because it's not the kind of pan that doesn't require lubrication. I love that the pan is oven safe up to 500 degrees! That means I can fry my chops on top of the stove and transfer the pan to the oven to let them finish cooking. This pan's claim to fame is that the surface stays new for a very long time. It doesn't scratch when metal utensils are used. That much seems to be true. Amazon purchasing history shows I bought the pan back in September of 2021. As of this writing on July 27 of 2022, my pan still doesn't have scratches. I'll update with photos to show age progression.

Now for the best frying pan I've ever owned.
I bought the Ozeri frying pan back in March of 2018. After five years of constant use, it still doesn't look old! With just a bit of cooking oil spray, it still releases food beautifully. Above all, I'm happy that the stone-derived coating is 100% free of PFOA, APEO, GenX, PFBS and PFOS. I'm still one who fears that typical nonstick pans made of Teflon release harmful chemicals to food. This issue was a huge topic of discussion between 2014 and 2019. The media blitz led many people to begin using old school cast iron. I do love using cast iron for certain foods such as steak, but cast iron is super heavy and cumbersome to wash. Sometimes, I just need a safe nonstick pan that washes up quickly and doesn't have to be seasoned.
